We are seeking highly enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our Ben & Jerry's team (located at Smithsonian's National Zoological Park). The National Zoo is a high volume, fast paced environment serving family groups, school field trips, summer camps, and tourists to the Washington, DC area. This is a Seasonal position working outdoors with operational dates from March through November. To be successful in this role, previous customer service experience is preferred; ensuring all transactions are run smoothly to help maximize customer satisfaction and retention. We strongly encourage individuals with open availability on holidays and weekends to apply! This position requires a successful federal background check.

Responsibilities:

Greeting and welcoming guests.
Scooping accurate ice cream portions; and preparing frozen drinks quickly and efficiently.
Proper knowledge of ALL menu items/recipes and ingredients.
Proper knowledge and adherence of Ben & Jerry's Mission Statement, Smithsonian's safety and operating standards, and safe food handling techniques.
Proper knowledge and completion of Allergens testing.
Accurate cash handling- collecting payments, issue correct change/receipts, while operating a Square POS system.
Upselling products and introducing new items.
Resolving customer complaints and providing relevant information.
Maintaining clean and tidy work areas- restocking and cleaning throughout shift and closing. Provide Housekeeping tracking sheets daily.
Walking (uphill) and standing/bending during scheduled shifts.
Track goals on balance/tracker sheets and report any discrepancies.
Outstanding customer service approach.

Requirements:

Morning/daytime/weekend/holiday shifts required.
Must pass a federal background.
Outdoor work conditions and environment.
Work permit required if under 17 years of age.
Work experience as a cashier/scooper or in a similar role (preferred)
Basic PC knowledge.
Housekeeping knowledge and techniques.
Team oriented.
Customer satisfaction-oriented.
