Position Summary

The Food Expeditor acts as the crucial link between the kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure that all dishes leave the kitchen accurately, attractively plated, and on time. This role requires exceptional communication, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate communication between the kitchen and serving staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders.
Inspect dishes for accuracy, presentation, and portion consistency before they leave the kitchen.
Manage ticket flow to prioritize and organize incoming orders efficiently.
Ensure that hot food stays hot and cold food stays cold until served.
Communicate any delays, issues, or special requests to servers and kitchen staff promptly.
Assist with garnishing and final plating touches as directed by the chef.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the expediting station.
Monitor and restock necessary supplies (plates, garnishes, condiments, etc.).
Support teamwork and smooth service during peak periods.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a restaurant, preferably in a kitchen or front-of-house coordination role.
Strong communication and multitasking skills.
High attention to detail and sense of urgency.
Ability to stay calm and organized under pressure.
Basic food safety knowledge and understanding of kitchen operations.
Physical ability to stand for long periods and handle fast-paced environments.
Knowledge of plating standards and menu items.

Work Environment

Fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen setting.
Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
