Position Overview

The General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of daily restaurant operations, including Front of House and Back of House execution.

The General Manager reports directly to the Regional Manager and Director of Operations and is responsible for achieving revenue, profitability, and performance goals while maintaining O’Bagel standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop FOH and BOH teams.
  • Build strong staffing plans and schedule efficiently.
  • Create a culture of accountability and hospitality.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Maintain high morale through communication, recognition, and leadership presence.
  • Run effective pre-meals and leadership meetings.

Operational Excellence
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure speed, accuracy, and food quality.
  • Validate that all menu items meet O’Bagel specifications.
  • Conduct Figure 8 walkthroughs to maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and DOH regulations are followed.
  • Manage catering orders and large group deliveries with precision.

Financial Management
  • Drive sales performance and profitability.
  • Manage labor cost and scheduling efficiency.
  • Control cost of goods and reduce waste.
  • Review weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports.
  • Monitor inventory levels and oversee vendor relationships.
  • Implement cost-control measures while protecting product quality.

Guest Experience & Community Presence
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Deliver superior hospitality standards.
  • Promote the O’Bagel brand within the local community.
  • Support local marketing initiatives and in-store events.
  • Identify opportunities to expand brand awareness.

Systems & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate reports and operational documentation.
  • Implement new policies and procedures as directed.
  • Maintain proficiency in POS systems and operational tools.
  • Uphold company standards at all times.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of General Manager or Assistant Manager experience in a high-volume food service environment.
  • Proven responsibility for financial results.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Owner-like mentality and operational discipline.
  • Experience with labor management and scheduling.
  • POS and basic financial reporting experience.
  • NYC Food Handler / ServSafe certification required (or willingness to obtain).
  • Full weekend availability required.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Early Morning & Afternoon shifts required.
  • Full weekend availability required.
  • $52,000 – $60,000 annually (based on experience).
  • Quarterly bonus potential based on performance.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and reach as needed.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant environment with varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
