Kitchen Manager


Summary: Crust is a full-service retail and wholesale baking company located in Fenton, Michigan that also features an entire restaurant that serves freshly prepared breakfast and lunch items from scratch. We are seeking an individual with a strong management mindset to oversee the back of house restaurant operation. This position is full time and includes benefits offered to all members of the management team within Crust (paid time off, company contributed insurance benefits and more).

Responsibilities Include:

Practice & Teach: Foster a workplace environment that prioritizes coaching and development
  • Train culinary team in all aspects of food production. Including but not limited to quality, consistency and sanitation.
  • Supervise and conduct performance management for all restaurant staff (line cooks, prep cooks and food expeditors).

Inspire & Motivate: Lead by example and serve as a source of inspiration by guiding the team through high volume rushes
  • Work with HR, owners, and other managers to incentivize and reward team members
  • Foster a fun, team-oriented and positive work environment

Cultivate an Experience: Ensure that the food items leaving the kitchen are reflective of a high-quality guest experience (prepared consistently and correctly). 

Organize & Execute: Maintain inventory, fulfill orders and provide support as needed to all areas of the restaurant kitchen (line, prep and expo stations).
  • Responsible for all restaurant food production, including that sold in the restaurant, for catering, take out and other outlets.
  • Develop menus, weekend specials, monthly features, food purchase specifications and recipes. 
  • Post back-of-house schedules weekly 

Qualifications:
  • 2-3+ years of back of house management experience (required)
  • Experience as a line cook or prep cook in a restaurant that primarily serves breakfast and lunch items (preferred)

Success in this Position is Generally Exhibited by those who:
  • Have flexible availability between the hours 6 AM and 5 PM Sunday through Tuesday
  •  Are able to be on their feet for the majority of an 8 hour shift 
  • Have high sanitation standards and have a well-developed understanding of food safety regulations 
  • Exhibit a high level of teamwork and are able to work alongside others/assist others when needed. Our work environment thrives on the ability to work as a team! 
  • Make it a priority to arrive at work on-time with little to no absences or punctuality issues
