Bludso's BBQ in Santa Monica is currently seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients, organizing supplies, and assisting with various tasks to support the smooth operation of our kitchen.
Responsibilities:
- Follow recipes and portion guidelines to accurately measure and prepare ingredients
- Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, fruits, and herbs
- Prepare meats, including marinating, seasoning, and trimming as needed
- Assist in the preparation of sauces, dressings, and other condiments
- Organize and stock ingredients, ensuring that they are readily available for cooking
- Assist in maintaining inventory and notifying the supervisor of any shortages or replenishment needs
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and labeling of prepped ingredients
- Assist in setting up stations and equipment for the daily operations
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment
- Support the kitchen team in various tasks as needed, such as dishwashing, food plating, and general cleaning
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety practices
- Ability to follow recipes and portion guidelines accurately
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy containers and perform repetitive tasks
- Culinary training or relevant certifications are a plus
