Position Summary
Merchandise Sales Associates prepare, promote, and sell WCS store products while ensuring a safe, fun-filled and educational experience for our guests at the New York Aquarium.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Sales
- Selling WCS store products and increasing sales through cross & up selling and demonstration of product knowledge
Service
- Provide superior service to guests, including maintaining general knowledge of park exhibits and amenities, answering questions and finding ways to create a positive and educational experience
Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas
- Process all forms of payment through the point of sale system, adhering to all WCS cash handling and inventory policies
- Stock shelves or process deliveries, following departmental inventory control procedures
- Assisting the team in carrying out any additional operational duties
- Ability to move objectives weighing up to 35 pounds (supplies, etc.)
- Remain at assigned posts for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions to assist with operations

Qualification Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 16 years or older
- Prior cash handling experience preferred
- Customer service oriented
- Basic verbal, written, computer, mathematical & communication skills
- Proactive and outgoing nature – work efficiently and ability to multitask
- Dependable and reliable
