Compensation: $13-$14/hr
The Funny Bone is a friendly, fast-paced, and highly regarded comedy club located in Hampton Roads. With a seating capacity of 350, we host 4-7 shows every week, featuring some of America's top comedians. Our mission is to provide the best comedic entertainment in the region, and we are seeking individuals who share our vision to join our team.
As a member of our security staff, your role will be integral to ensuring the smooth operation and enjoyable experience for all our guests. You will be scheduled for 2-5 nights per week, with shifts typically falling between Wednesday and Sunday. It's important to note that we are not open every night, so the exact schedule will be communicated in advance. Your shift will typically start at 6pm and end around 12am.
Responsibilities:
Checking IDs: As part of the security team, one of your primary responsibilities will be to verify guests' identification to ensure they meet the age requirements for entry into the comedy club. This includes attentively examining IDs and confirming their authenticity.
Guest Seating: After verifying the guests' IDs, you will escort them to their designated seats in the showroom. It's essential to provide a friendly and helpful experience to our patrons, ensuring they feel welcomed and comfortable.
Showroom Maintenance: You will work collaboratively with your coworkers to clear and reset the showroom between performances. This includes removing empty glasses, plates, and other items left by guests, ensuring the venue is clean and ready for the next show.
Dealing with Disruptive Guests: As a security staff member, you will be responsible for handling any disruptive or heckling guests promptly and professionally. You will be trained in appropriate techniques to diffuse tense situations and maintain a positive atmosphere within the club.
First Impressions: As one of the first points of contact for our guests, it is crucial that you maintain a professional and inviting demeanor. Your friendly attitude and excellent customer service skills will contribute to the overall positive experience our guests have at The Funny Bone.
Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately check and verify IDs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and coworkers
- Professionalism and the ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Customer service experience is a plus
- Prior security experience is desirable but not mandatory
