About the Role
The Expo (Expeditor) serves as the critical link between the kitchen and dining room, ensuring that every dish leaving the line meets The Hotel Burg’s standards for quality, accuracy, presentation, and timing. This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a calm sense of urgency to coordinate service flow and support both culinary and front-of-house teams.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate the flow of food from the kitchen to the dining room to ensure timely and accurate service.
· Inspect all dishes for accuracy, presentation, temperature, and completeness before they leave the line.
· Communicate clearly and efficiently with chefs, cooks, and front-of-house staff regarding order timing, modifications, allergies, and special requests.
· Organize and stage plates for delivery, ensuring proper table numbers, seat positions, and course pacing.
· Manage ticket flow and prioritize orders based on timing and service needs.
· Maintain a strong sense of urgency while remaining composed and professional during high-volume service.
· Support food runners with clear direction and coordination during peak periods.
· Assist in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards in the expo and service areas.
· Ensure consistency with The Hotel Burg’s service standards and guest experience expectations.
Qualifications
· Prior food runner or support experience in a busy restaurant is ideal.
· Strong sense of urgency and ability to navigate high-volume service environments.
· Basic food knowledge and ability to memorize table numbers and seating positions.
· Team-oriented and efficient under pressure.
· Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate between multiple departments.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to presentation and quality standards.
· Ability to stay organized and calm while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
